English Days: Our Planets and Space Travel

Each month our English team organizes interactive activities to further enhance the use of authentic English outside of the classroom.  This year our school’s focal point is discovering more about the wonders of our solar system and space travel.

The pupils are given a preliminary task the days before each English Day so they are prepared for the activities and ready to participate. As our theme revolves around space travel, topics and activities this academic year have included learning in detail about the inner workings of a spacesuit (officially named- Extravehicular Mobile Unit); the different parts of a spacecraft and rockets; comparing and contrasting the planets in our solar system and how Earth’s sun makes all life possible. On English Days the pupils work together to solve riddles, quiz each other about the planets and enjoy fun games, such a ‘Planet Bingo’, or Space Travel tongue twisters.

English Days have been very well received by the pupils and we look forward to planning further activities as the academic year leads to summer.
